At Clover & Quill, I believe that clear and concise writing is essential for success. I offer top-notch editorial services across a variety of content types.
With nearly 30 years of writing and 25 years of editing experience, I bring a wealth of expertise to enhance your content—whether academic papers, business documents, or creative projects. I have a proven track record of success in B2B and B2C environments within corporate and nonprofit sectors. I am recognized for my meticulous attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Raised on a Midwest farm, surrounded by books and inspired by words, I dreamed of becoming a world-famous author. Reading was essential to my childhood, and I have always been fascinated by words and sentence structure. During my teenage years, I spent a lot of time in my room writing short stories and mentally editing the books I read. I went to college to pursue journalism and dreamed of becoming a world-traveling investigative journalist.
I have a degree in journalism and started my career by writing for community newspapers. I enjoyed the creative process of writing. Later, I transitioned into editing and discovered that I had a strong attention to detail. I worked for publishing companies for many years while also doing freelance writing and editing on the side. However, after having children, my career took a different path. My eldest child has Down syndrome, and I became heavily involved as a volunteer for various Down syndrome nonprofit organizations, eventually working for these nonprofits. I handled copywriting, community engagement, marketing, fundraising, and various other responsibilities in the nonprofit world. But my passion for writing and editing led me back to full-time freelancing, founding Clover & Quill to offer you personalized editorial services.
Clover & Quill is named in homage to my Irish roots and love for the craft.
I'm proud of my Irish heritage and wanted to incorporate that into my business name. I also wanted to include a quill in the name because I love the imagery of writing and editing with an antique quill. One day, the perfect name came to me: Clover & Quill.

I specialize in academic, educational, medical, technical, and nonfiction editing. While most of my clients are businesses, I also enjoy working with individual clients who need an editor for their thesis or dissertation. I can support you at every stage of your writing process, from developing your early manuscript to copyediting the nearly finished manuscript to proofreading the final version. Additionally, I can assist with formatting, reference checking, and fact-checking and perform quality assurance/quality control for your final manuscript.
I am an expert in the Chicago Manual of Style, AP Style, and APA and have a working knowledge of AMA and MLA styles.
It all starts with an initial consultation. This can happen via email, phone, Zoom, or any method you prefer. This is my chance to get to know you and your needs and for you to ask any questions of me. After getting to know one another and understanding the scope of your project, I will review a sample of the work and provide a free sample edit. Typically, I prefer to edit one to five pages. This way, you can evaluate my work, and I can better understand the needs of your manuscript. I typically have a sample edit and rate ready for you to review within 48 hours.
After reviewing all the information, you might wonder about the potential cost to you as the customer. This is a valid question.
Generally, most projects cost between $45 and $60 per hour ($8.50 to $15 per page). The final cost depends on the level of editing required (e.g., proofreading to developmental editing) and the length of the manuscript.
I can provide my editing portfolio, testimonials, and references upon request.
